The Living with the Neighbours Observatory , which monitors and analyses the EU-UK relationship post-Brexit, published its new Report on the relations of the UK with European states after the new Prime Minister Keir Starmer took office in July 2024. The Report highlights the positive dynamics that have developed primarily in the field of security and defence, overcoming frictions in other sectors. Such dynamics are due to the election of President Trump in the US, the continuation of the Russo-Ukrainian war, and the EU investment in defence with a view to strengthening European deterrence capabilities.
The chapter on Greece was written by Spyros Blavoukos, ELIAMEP Senior Research Fellow and Head of the Ariane Condellis European Programme, who stresses the improvement in the bilateral relationship after the visit of the Greek PM, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, at London in December 2024 and the constructive stance of the British Premier regarding the ongoing negotiations with the British Museum on the issue of the Parthenon Marbles.
