The prominent web portal European Western Balkans – which provided in-depth coverage of the Civil Society and Think Tank Forum staged on 14-15 October in Tirana, Albania, within the framework of the Berlin Process Summit – devoted a special report to the panel discussion on “The Politics of Enlargement: how to seize the new momentum?” organized by ELIAMEP’s South-East Europe Programme, at which the pertinent policy paper by Ioannis Armakolas and Ana Kristinovska was presented.

The report covered Ana Krstinovska’s presentation to the panel of the recommendations of the Thematic Working Group on the Politics of Enlargement, in which she spoke among other things about the politicization of the enlargement process along with bilateral disputes and conflicts. “Our message to the governments of the Western Balkans is this: get more serious, assume greater responsibility, and develop into an EU partner by achieving the progress required in relation to the rule of law and public administration reform”, she said.

Ditmir Bushati, a former Albanian Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs; Nikola Dimitrov, former Minister of Foreign Affairs in North Macedonia; and Adnan Ćerimagić, an analyst from the European Stability Initiative, also spoke.
