Ambassador (ad hon.) Terry Stamatopoulos participated in a discussion organized by IISS about tensions in the Eastern Mediterranean and the rivalry between Turkey and an array of Mediterranean countries, most notably Greece and Cyprus.

The panel discussion examined the following questions: What are the competing claims fueling the competition? Is the competition over energy a primary driver of the conflict? What are the prospects for further escalation? Can NATO act as a mediator? Can the EU overcome its divisions? What are the domestic repercussions of the crisis in Ankara, Nicosia and Athens?
