George Pagoulatos bids farewell to the readers of the Kathimerini on Sunday after 16 years as a regular columnist on the paper. Greece’s new ambassador to the OECD explains that the state position he now holds brings with it great responsibilities and demands on his time, but also the loss of the presumption of independence that every regular columnist who respects himself and his readers should demand of themselves. This is why he has decided that today’s article will be his last to appear in his regular column—though, of course, this does not mean he will stop writing.
