Interviewed on the show “SYNORA” on Greek state television (ERT3) on the occasion of the latest separatist statements made by the President of the Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, Ioannis Armakolas spoke about the recent developments in Bosnia-Herzegovina and discusses the broader issue of stability in the Western Balkans.
Commenting on Dodik’s inflammatory statements, Armakolas underlined the passive approach taken by the international community, and the EU in particular, to the deep-rooted political issues facing Bosnia, and analyzed the possible consequences for the region of a change of leadership in the US and a second Trump presidency.
The political situation in Serbia in the wake of the recent parliamentary elections in the country was also discussed in detail. Armakolas stressed the need for the EU to immediately address the rise of nationalism, the undermining of democratic institutions by President Aleksandar Vučić, and the country’s ever closer relations with countries such as Russia, China and Hungary.
