Despite initial expectations of a swift victory, the war has entered its third year with no clear end in sight. Russia maintains the upper hand in terms of ammunition and manpower, while Ukraine struggles due to a lack of financial assistance and military resources. Although both sides suffer losses, Russia’s momentum prompts suggestions for Ukraine to seek peace, endorsed by Kremlin and potentially supported by sympathetic leaders abroad. However, meaningful negotiations appear improbable as both sides remain entrenched in their positions. The ongoing conflict underscores the grim reality that without a significant shift, war remains the primary option.
