Kemal Dervis studied in leading universities in the UK and the US (LSE and Princeton). He had a long and extremely successful career in international organizations. He was minister of economics in Turkey (2001-2) and laid the foundations for the economic development of our neighbouring country in subsequent years. He was vice-president of Brookings Institution since 2009.

Kemal Dervis had a long publications record. Ηe was an excellent economist with deep knowledge and open horizons: a distinguished intellectual and practitioner with international recognition. I consider myself lucky to have met him and I am grateful for the conversations we have had. He loved his country and he believed in the peaceful coexistence between Greece and Turkey. He was a citizen of the world. He was also a member of the international advisory board of ELIAMEP for which we are thankful.
