Ioannis Armakolas said that good relations with North Macedonia will continue, especially in the field of economy, but with no enthusiastic approach for the implementation of the Prespa Agreemenin an interview with Lepa Djundeva. He also stressed that there will be no major changes in Greece’s political scene.

“New Democracy has not undermined the Agreement but at the same time they were not very enthusiastic about implementing it either. So, I expect that this will continue after the elections. They will probably continue good relations with North Macedonia especially in the economic sphere, but they will not be overly enthusiastic about stronger bonds political and societal cooperation. We could see the next government finally ratifying the three protocols waiting in parliament for almost three years, that would be a signal that finally there is some movement on the issue, but I don’t expect any big progress or very warm relations,” he noted.

On the issue of the changes in the road signs, he said that this is in the jurisdiction of local authorities, even though the government could have put pressure. He therefore noted that an opportunity for a genuine partnership between the two countries has been missed.
