From September 21st to September 26th, 2023, ELIAMEP hosted a group of American fellows from the German Marshall Fund in Athens. During the four days of their visit, the fellows met with important representatives of the academic, financial, and non-profit sectors. The fellows were given a tour of the Hellenic Parliament building and were briefed on the most important issues facing Greek society by Greek Members of the Parliament, experienced Greek contemporary art at the National Museum of Contemporary Art, discussed how climate change is affecting the Greek economy and the paradoxes of education policy in Greece, while being welcomed at the historic building of the Hellenic Society for the Protection of the Environment and the Cultural Heritage, and participated at the activity against food waste organised by the NGO “BOROUME”.

The meeting with the Greek Ombudsman was dedicated to human rights protection in Greece, while the meeting with the National Security Advisor focued on the geopolitical challenges facing Greece. Finally, they had the opportunity to talk with members of the “Generation 2.0” organization on issues of integration and inclusion of immigrants in the Greek society.

We would like to thank the Greek network of Marshall Memorial Fellowship for their assistance and continued support to the program.
