The President of ELIAMEP, Professor Loukas Tsoukalis, participated in the Progressive Governance Conference held in Oslo on 12-13 May. Heads of state and government, as well as leading political thinkers and policymakers took part in it. The Prime Minister of Greece, Mr George Papandreou, and the Minister of Education, Ms Anna Diamantopoulou, spoke at the Conference.
The President of ELIAMEP, chaired the final session of the Conference on Social democracy beyond the nation-state; do we have a distinctive international agenda?. The panellists were: Mr. Jonas Gahr Støre, Foreign Minister of Norway, Mr. Poul Nyrup Rasmussen, President of the Party of European Socialists, Mr. Enrico Letta, Deputy Secretary of the Italian Democratic Party, Mr. Marco Aurélio Garcia, Senior Foreign Policy Adviser to the Brazilian President, and Mrs Helen Clark, Administrator of the UN Development Programme (UNDP) and former Prime Minister of New Zealand.
