Last week, ELIAMEP’s Fair MusE team participated in a productive Research Integration meeting in Brussels. The Fair MusE research project focuses on the European music industry with the aim to promote fairness for music creators and stakeholders from an interdisciplinary perspective, thus leading to a more transparent, competitive and sustainable music ecosystem in Europe.

During this meeting, the consortium highlighted notable achievements, emphasizing progress in project milestones and interdisciplinary research, regulatory considerations, and the impact of streaming on both music creators and consumers.

The meeting was an excellent opportunity for a meaningful, in-depth discussion, particularly with regard to the preparation and launch of a portal where Fair MusE’s data scientists will gather and analyse playlists and other relevant data uploaded by consumers recruited from all over Europe. The consortium will make this portal publicly available over the coming weeks, launching a recruiting campaign for listeners to donate their playlists. Another significant achievement of the project has been the presentation video, a crucial element to guide users into the world of Fair MusE.

This gathering strengthened Fair MusE’s commitment to help Europe make the music streaming sector more fair, sustainable and supportive of cultural diversity only a few weeks after the approval of a European Parliament resolution that pursues the same policy goals.

As Fair MusE continues to advance in impactful research, the Research Integration meeting highlighted the exceptional relevance of collaborative efforts with affiliated projects under the Horizon Europe program. The meeting showcased a united front in the pursuit of positive change through future clusters’ meetings and close cooperation aimed at raising awareness on unresolved issues and possible solutions.
