Ioannis Armakolas visited Madrid between June 6- 7, as part of a delegation of Europe’s Futures, IWM Vienna Alumni in cooperation with Erste Foundation to discuss the EU’s enlargement strategy ahead of the Spanish 2023 EU presidency.

More specifically he participated at a closed workshop at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Spain chaired by Salvador Rueda Rabanal, Director General for Integration and Coordination of EU General Affairs.

With the other members of the Europe’s Futures Alumni: Nikola Dimitrov, Hedvig Morvai (ERSTE Foundation), Zoran Nechev (IDSCS), and Oana Popescu-Zamfir (Global Focus) they held talks focusing on the future of EU Enlargement, the southern neighbourhood, the current EU challenges at the Elcano Royal Institute as well as with Jose Ignacio Torreblanca, ECFR Madrid and Pablo Garcia Berdoy, Aspen Spain.
