Michalis Mathioulakis presented a study under the title: “Security Implications of New Offshore Energy Findings in the Black Sea and East Med” regarding the strategic dimension of the new natural gas discoveries in the Black Sea and the Eastern Mediterranean ath the Delpic Economic Forum 2023. The study analyzes a wide range of energy strategy issues that spans from the unique conditions in the Black Sea EEZs following the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the pivotal location of Snake Island, to Turkey’s provocations in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Israel-Lebanon maritime agreement, but also extends from the importance of Romania’s new gas extraction platforms to the scientific evaluation of the strategic elements of the East Med gas pipeline.
