Turkey does not usually ambush with what it does, says ELIAMEP researcher Sotiris Serbos, in an interview to Radio Station 9.84. Sotiris Serbos points out that the Turkish president is essentially addressing his own country and wants to show citizens that he remains a strong leader who can force Europeans and the West to take on their part of the burden on the refugee issue.
ELIAMEP’s researcher explains, that in recent times, Recep Tayyip Erdogan has felt pressured because in all the surveys, Turkish public opinion has been very opposed to the refugee policy of the government and in particular to the refugees from Syria.
