In the context of the Programme EUact2: “Towards Democratic and Inclusive Europe: EP Elections and Active Citizens Participation and Contribution”, the ‘Ariane Condellis’ European Programme of the Hellenic Foundation For European & Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP) together with the EU Youth Hub, the Regional Policy Monitor, the European Parliament Liaison Office in Greece and the Europe Direct Region of Western Greece organize the session “Artificial Intelligence and Societal Digitalization: Great Expectations and Challenges to Social Justice” at the Regional Growth Conference (RGC) on Saturday, March 18, 2023, in Patras.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and rapid technological progress are revolutionizing all aspects of modern society, generating opportunities and expectations of societal betterment but also raising significant challenges to social justice regarding the just transition to a digitalized world. How are our socio-economic and political interactions affected by such a transition? How can we accelerate the transition while entertaining at the same time the concerns of those population strata that fear of being left behind? These are critical issues that transcend borders and need to be tackled at the European, not to say global, level of policymaking. The panel will discuss the features and impact of digitalization on European society as well as the EU effort to regulate it.

To facilitate participation, there will be free transfer by the organizers to Patras, leaving on Friday morning 17/3 and returning on Saturday afternoon, 18/3.
