As Greece has been at the forefront of immigration restrictions in Europe and restrictions have taken increasing political importance at southern European and US borders, the workshop aims to map the state-of-the-art and the most recent developments in historical political economy and political science research on the restrictions to immigration. The speakers and participants discussed the mechanisms that have led to immigration restrictions over the past century, the impact of those restrictions, and the conditions in which they could be relaxed at European and US borders today.
