“North Macedonia: Politics and society: From independence to the Prespes Agreement (1991-2019)” is the title of the new book by Yorgos Christidis, a Research Fellow on ELIAMEP’s SE Europe Programme. The work examines a set of issues that are of crucial importance to our neighbouring nation and its political profile, relating as they do to its independence in 1991,  to the establishment of its multi-party system and course of its inter-ethnic relations through until the signing of the Prespes Agreement, the key ideological characteristics and the political choices made by the various governments in the period under assessment and their impact on society. The work is particularly important, since it seeks to fill a gap in the Greek bibliography, while contributing to a better understanding of a neighbouring country with which bilateral relations have been improving slowly but surely for nearly three decades now. It is published by Epikentro.
