On Friday, 7 November 2025, ELIAMEP co-organized with the Embassies of Austria, Finland and Sweden in Athens an event celebrating the 30th anniversary of the three countries’ accession to the European Union.
Following opening remarks by Ambassadors Gerda Vogl, Leena Pylvänäinen and Håkan Emsgård, a moderated discussion took place featuring Professor Spyros Blavoukos (AUEB; Head of the EU Institutions & Policies Programme, ELIAMEP), Paul Schmidt (Austrian Society for European Politics), Tuomas Iso-Markku (Finnish Institute of International Affairs) and Dr. Göran von Sydow (Swedish Institute for European Policy Studies).
The discussion was moderated by Dr. Ritsa Panagiotou (ELIAMEP) and focused on national perspectives and shared experiences of Austria, Finland and Sweden within the EU, as well as their visions for the Union’s future.
