In honour of the memory of its co-founder Theodore Couloumbis, the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP) announces the award of a research fellowship in his memory for the 2022-2023 academic year to a Ph.D. candidate or postdoctoral researcher in the field of “Greek-American Relations“.

The duration of the scholarship will be one year.

The grant will amount to €12,000 plus travel and accommodation expenses for the collection of research data.

Qualifications required:

  • A Master’s degree or doctorate in the broader field of international relations
  • Noteworthy research work. Publications in a related field will be taken into account as an additional asset
  • Excellent knowledge of Greek and English, with fluency in both the written and spoken language
  • The ability to take the initiative, think independently and work with others.

The Scholar’s Obligations:

Once the scholarship has been finalized, each scholar is obliged to:

  • Implement the research project for which he/she has received their grant in the manner agreed with the Director General of the Foundation. The resulting research paper will be included among ELIAMEP’s publications.
  • To submit a progress report in the six months before the fellowship ends, and a final report on completion of the project
  • To present the results of his/her research at a public event
  • To mention ELIAMEP in all publications relating to the given research.

  • A letter expressing interest in the position in question The letter should explain how the applicants’ work and research experience relates to the fellowship’s specific field of study.
  • A curriculum vitae
  • The names and contact details of two referees
  • Publications relevant to the research topic (in English)

Selection procedure:

The applications will be evaluated by a three-member Academic Committee which will set up by ELIAMEP. The Foundation’s Selection Committee will pre-select the strongest candidates, who will be invited for an interview to allow a decision to be reached.
