Varvara (Berry) Lalioti participates as a researcher in ELIAMEP’s research programme ‘Youth employment and gender equality: Mobilizing human capital for sustainable growth in Greece’. She holds a PhD from the University of Oxford, with a specialization in social policy, as well as postgraduate and bachelor degrees in political economy, public policy, sociology and history from US and Greek universities.

Dr Lalioti has been awarded scholarships, inter alia, by the University of Oxford, the Greek State Scholarships Foundation, New York University and the Fulbright Foundation. She has taught BA and MA courses at Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences, the University of Peloponnese, the Democritus University of Thrace and the Hellenic Open University.

Dr Lalioti has extensive research experience (in international, European and national programmes). Her main research interests include the design and evaluation of labour market policies and outcomes, social assistance policies and comparative social policy analysis.
