The new job gap – by Jens Bastian
Discussions have already begun on how to politically support the transition to working from home, such as granting subsidies for the purchase of necessary equipment or tax breaks. These proposals are reasonable and a must within the new normality. But what about those who work side by side in retail, in the provision of services or in joint offices for many hours? These front-line
employees deserve not only words of gratitude. It is also a matter of justice and health which needs to be shown with actions, such as financial support, protective equipment, regular inspections, paid sick leave, improved hourly wages. It is not possible to return to the status quo ante or to business as usual, writes Jens Bastian in an article on Capital.gr.
