On 3-4 May 2023, the “Civil Society Network in the Context of UN’s Sustainable Development Goals in Greece” project team organized a closed seminar on the “Development of Networks between Civil Society Organizations for the Promotion of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”, which took place at the premises of the organization HIGGS.

Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and informal groups from all over Greece, including organisations based in cities of Northern Greece and the islands, were invited to the meeting. The organisations participate in the project’s 5 working groups, Partnership, Peace & Justice, People, Planet and Prosperity. The seminar was also attended by representatives of the Icelandic Human Rights Centre, the project partner, who travelled from Reykjavik for this purpose, as well as representatives of federations of Greek organisations or movements that do important work in relation to sustainable development goals in Greece and the networking of CSOs.

The objectives of the closed seminar were 1) to strengthen networking and cooperation between CSOs participating in the project’s 5 working groups, 2) to disseminate the results of the working groups (presentation of the strategy papers they developed on selected issues related to the promotion of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and sustainable development in Greece) and 3) the exchange of good practices on CSO networking and the promotion of the SDGs with the partner organisation from Iceland and networks in Greece.

During the two-day meeting the participants presented their work undertaken in the context of the project and beyond. For almost two days, they shared thoughts, ideas and concerns, and tried to deepen the discussion around Civil Society and the SDGs in Greece.
