The ELIAMEP Defence Hub contributes to informed policy-oriented dialogue and strategic analysis on the Greek defence and dual-use industrial ecosystem, as well as its connection to European funding instruments aimed at strengthening the European Defence Technological and Industrial Base (EDTIB).

The Hub focuses on EU-NATO cooperation, emerging defence-industrial initiatives, dual-use technologies and the broader preparedness and readiness agenda within the concept of total defence. It places particular emphasis on the role of SMEs in defence, space and wider dual-use sectors, highlighting their importance and capturing their perspectives. It also examines the potential for SMEs and mid-caps to leverage EU-level partnerships with third countries, including the UK, Canada, the Western Balkans, Ukraine, the Republic of Korea, Japan and Australia.

General Objectives:

  1. Produce policy papers and briefs on defence industrial policy at the national, European, transatlantic and international levels, with a particular focus on EU defence industrial initiatives.
  2. Organise events, discussions and briefings for stakeholders on the EDTIB, in cooperation with representatives of institutions, global defence companies and leading think-tanks.
  3. Monitor developments and identify linkages between defence, industry, innovation, climate transition, skills and regional development, with particular emphasis on dual-use technologies and SMEs
  4. Represent ELIAMEP in EU and NATO-wide defence research and think-tank networks, including the Armament Industry European Research Group (ARES), European Defence in a New Age (EDINA) and the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS) EU-NATO Task Force.
