Mihalis Kritikos argues that the current ‘digital exodus’ is more than a withdrawal from technology; it is the conscious reclaiming of autonomy in a world in which the algorithm grows ever more powerful. Just as the sortie staged by the Free Besieged out of Messolonghi during the Greek War of Independence was not a flight, but a dignified choice made in the face of oppressive conditions, so too can the disengagement from certain digital structures be considered a modern form of resistance. It is not a rejection of technology, but an attempt to limit its dominance and ensure that human agency remains free, critical, and inherently unpredictable.
