The new book by Constantine Michalopoulos, Senior Policy Advisor at ELIAMEP, has just been published by Springer under the title: “Greek Foreign Trade and Finance: The Mixed Blessings of Economic Dependence”
The book examines the role of international trade and finance in the development of the Greek economy since the beginnings of the Greek state two centuries ago. It focuses on the benefits and challenges of Greece’s economic dependence on the larger and higher income countries of Western Europe, in particular the European Union, and their impact on its economic development. It also discusses the implications of the Greek experience for emerging economies considering economic integration and makes recommendations for possible improvements in the functioning of the Eurozone.
