This paper <strong>examines how the EU\u2019s normative and policy guidelines are designed and have\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><strong>evolved over time to tackle such persisting disparities<\/strong>, particularly as these are manifested in the obstacles that prevent women from advancing in the high ranks of the scientific and academic profession. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">These disparities are noticeably evidenced in the case of Greece, where despite a permissive constitutional frame and existing legislation, the political will, initiative and resources to promote gender equality in research and academic have been thoroughly lacking.
