Following a conceptualizing introductory article by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/doi\/full\/10.1080\/14683857.2017.1424398\">Ker-Lindsay, Armakolas, Balfour and Stratulat<\/a>, each subsequent article of the issue considers one EU member country\u2019s perspective on EU enlargement to the Western Balkans, highlighting the effects of domestic political concerns and national politics on state-level attitudes. The issue includes the following case study articles: Germany (by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/doi\/full\/10.1080\/14683857.2017.1397961\">Theresia T\u00f6glhofer and Cornelius Adebahr<\/a>), France (by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/doi\/full\/10.1080\/14683857.2017.1390831\"><b>Natasha Wunsch<\/b><\/a>), the United Kingdom (by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/doi\/full\/10.1080\/14683857.2017.1397958\">James Ker-Lindsay<\/a>), Italy (by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/doi\/full\/10.1080\/14683857.2017.1403153\"><b>Andrea Frontini and <\/b><b>Davide Denti<\/b><\/a>), Hungary (by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/doi\/full\/10.1080\/14683857.2017.1367462\">Beata Huszka<\/a>), Greece (by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/doi\/full\/10.1080\/14683857.2017.1407399\">Ioannis Armakolas and Giorgos Triantafyllou<\/a>) and Cyprus (by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/doi\/full\/10.1080\/14683857.2017.1397955\">Isabelle Ioannides<\/a>). As the abstract of the introductory article of the issue points out, each country study \u201cshows that there are in fact a wide variety of factors that shape individual member state attitudes towards enlargement\u2026 include[ing] economic and commercial goals, ties to the region and to individual accession states, concerns over immigration, general foreign policy priorities and national ideological approaches towards the future shape and orientation of the European Union\u201d.
