The first 2017 issue of Southeast European and Black Sea Studies<\/em><\/span><\/a> includes a diverse selection of articles regarding the Balkan region and Turkey. George Mavrommatis<\/a> has written a piece about \u201cThe Greek migrant integration policy and its transformation during the crisis\u201d and Filip Ejdus & Mina Bo\u017eovi\u0107<\/a> have examined the topics of grammar, power and content in their article about \u201cSecuritization of the 2010 Belgrade Pride Parade\u201d. The region of Turkey is a special section of this issue, with an introduction provided by Cristiano Bee & Ayhan Kaya<\/a> about the \u201cDeterminants of young people\u2019s civic and political participation in Turkey\u201d. Volkan Y\u0131lmaz<\/a> analyses \u201cyouth welfare policy in Turkey in comparative perspective\u201d through the case of \u2018\u2019Denied Youth Citizenship\u2019\u2019 and Emre Erdo\u011fan & P\u0131nar Uyan-Semerci<\/a> raise the question of whether being young matters in Turkish society in their piece about \u201cyoung citizen\u2019s political participation in Turkey\u201d. Stavroula Chrona & Tereza Capelos<\/a> examine in their article \u201cThe political psychology of participation in Turkey\u201d, while Suna G\u00f6k\u00e7e-K\u0131z\u0131lkaya & \u00d6zge Onursal-Be\u015fg\u00fcl<\/a> turn to \u201cYouth participation in local politics\u201d through city councils and youth assemblies in Turkey. Also in this issue Didem \u00c7akmakl\u0131<\/a> has written a piece on the \u201cRights and obligations in civil society organizations in Turkey\u201d and last but not least, Cristiano Bee & Ayhan Kaya<\/a> focus on \u201cYouth and active citizenship in Turkey\u201d. Outside the theme of Turkey, This issue also features four thorough book reviews. Robert J. Donia<\/a> writing about \u201cThe Ottoman Empire and the Bosnian Uprising: Janissaries, modernization and rebellion in the nineteenth century\u201d; Ekavi Athanassopoulou<\/a> considering \u201cTurkey\u2019s entente with Israel & Azerbaijan: state identity and security in the Middle East and Caucasus\u201d; Anna Calori<\/a> on \u201cNations and citizens in Yugoslavia and the post-Yugoslav States \u2013 one hundred years of citizenship\u201d; and finally Christos A. Frangonikolopoulos<\/a> reviewing \u201cEconomic crisis and civil society in Greece: new forms of engagement & \u2018deviations\u2019 from the past\u201d.<\/p>\n
