He is a former Member of the Congress of the United States, from Florida, and also a former <\/span><span class=\"x_x_markfne8i095d\"><span class=\"x_x_ContentPasted0\" data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">international<\/span><\/span><span class=\"x_x_ContentPasted0\"> trade negotiator for the United States. <\/span><\/p>\n<p> <span class=\"x_x_ContentPasted0\">He is a Global <\/span><span class=\"x_x_markvz2gmml0f\"><span class=\"x_x_ContentPasted0\" data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">Fellow<\/span><\/span><span class=\"x_x_ContentPasted0\"> of the Centre for <\/span><span class=\"x_x_ContentPasted0\" data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">International<\/span><span class=\"x_x_ContentPasted0\"> Governance Innovation in Canada and an Adjunct Scholar of the Cato Institute in Washington, D.C. He was the Pao Yue \u2013 Kong Chair Professor at Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China. He will be a Visiting <\/span><span class=\"x_x_ContentPasted0\" data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">Fellow at the Lauterpacht Center of <\/span><span class=\"x_x_ContentPasted0\" data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">International Law of Cambridge University during the summer of 2023. He served on the High-Level Advisory Panel to the Conference of Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, chaired the global Commission on Trade and Investment Policy of the <\/span><span class=\"x_x_ContentPasted0\" data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">International<\/span><span class=\"x_x_ContentPasted0\"> Chamber of Commerce, and chaired the global sustainability council of the World Economic Forum. For more than fourteen years, he chaired the global practice of the largest law firm in the United States and one of the largest in the world. <\/span><\/p>\n<p> <span class=\"x_x_ContentPasted0\">Professor Bacchus is the author of the books <em>Trade and Freedom<\/em>, published by Cameron May in London in 2004, and <em>The Willing World: Shaping and Sharing a Sustainable Global Prosperity<\/em>, published by Cambridge University Press in 2018.
