The Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP) and diaNEOsis organized the third consecutive closed working meeting of the Brussels Forum. Specifically, the closed working meeting entitled “Greece in the European spotlight: challenges and strategies for 2027” <\/strong>took place on Thursday, November 6, 2025<\/strong>, on the sidelines of the Delphi Economic Forum in Brussels.<\/p>\n

With Greece assuming the rotating Presidency of the Council of the EU in the second half of 2027, the closed meeting, which was conducted in the context of an open dialogue between participants and based on the Chatham House rule, focused on current issues of concern to the EU that are expected to play a key role in shaping the agenda of the Greek Presidency<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The starting point for the discussions was the opening speech by Greece’s Permanent Representative to the EU, Ambassador Ioannis Vrailas. The subsequent discussion was structured around two thematic areas: a) economy, society, and environment, and b) geopolitics and security. Each section began with brief introductory remarks that set the stage for the discussion.<\/p>\n

The ultimate goal of this year’s Brussels Forum was to exchange and analyze different ideas and approaches in order to strengthen the dialogue on the various challenges that the Greek Presidency will face<\/strong>. At the same time, the significant added value offered by the Brussels Forum lies in bringing together Greeks who work and\/or are active in the institutions of Brussels, thereby strengthening cooperation and mapping the Greek element in the European institutions.<\/p>\n

In this regard, more than 50 high-ranking officials from the European Commission, the European Parliament, the European External Action Service, the European Investment Fund, and the Permanent Representations of Greece to the EU and NATO actively participated. Executives from Greek companies, as well as researchers from the world of think tanks, also actively participated.<\/p>\n

The main takeaways from this year’s Brussels Forum discussion will be published in a report by ELIAMEP and diaNEOsis.<\/p>\n
