The workshop, organised in cooperation with the EEAS Policy Planning and Strategic Foresight Division and the European Commission&#8217;s DG IDEA, brought together strategic planners and institutional leaders to address the bloc&#8217;s constantly shifting geopolitical vulnerabilities.<\/p>\n<p>The event covered important points for the development of the upcoming European Security Strategy and outlined the evolving threat environment facing the EU, identifying the main state-based threats, the broader erosion of multilateral governance, and the risks of technologic and economic interdependence. Participants proposed concrete lines of effort for the ESS, ranging from defence to the Single Market, technology, enlargement, partnerships, governance, and public narrative.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. <strong>Elena Lazarou<\/strong>, Director General of ELIAMEP, contributed to the session, <strong>\u201cHow to turn strength into power\u201d<\/strong>, providing introductory remarks.
