Participants engaged in a high-level discussion aimed at contributing youth perspectives to key EU ocean policy initiatives under the European Ocean Pact.<\/p>\n<p>The dialogue focused on three main objectives: encouraging greater youth participation in the blue economy and informing the upcoming Blue Generational Renewal Strategy; gathering perspectives on the future of fisheries and aquaculture to contribute to the Vision 2040 initiative; and identifying ways to protect underwater cultural heritage while balancing cultural, environmental, and educational priorities. The programme also included field-based activities on coastal ecosystems, marine pollution, and sustainable practices, fostering direct engagement with ocean-related challenges.<\/p>\n<p>Athina Fatsea, Research Assistant to the Director General and European Programme Manager, was selected among more than 700 applicants to participate in the dialogue. She contributed to discussions on underwater cultural heritage, emphasising the need for its effective protection.
