The event featured keynote remarks by <strong>Harry Theoharis<\/strong>, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs; <strong>Danae Bezantakou<\/strong>, CEO of Navigator Shipping Consultants,<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/gr.linkedin.com\/in\/john-cotzias-1a8a4379?trk=public_post-text\">John Cotzias<\/a><\/strong>, President of the Hellenic Shipbrokers Association, and <strong>George Sp. Alexandratos<\/strong>, Chairman of the Hellenic Chamber of Shipping.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s\u00a0 sessions focused on three critical pillars shaping the future of shipping: <strong>decarbonization and ESG<\/strong>, highlighting the challenges of the energy transition and the investment requirements for a Net Zero future; <strong>smart shipping and the human element<\/strong>, emphasizing the need for technology and human judgment to work in tandem to ensure safety, efficiency, and long\u2011term sustainability; and <strong>geopolitical developments<\/strong>, underscoring the role of shipping as a strategic asset within an increasingly volatile global economic environment.<\/p>\n<p>The session on Geopolitical Developments, was <strong>moderated by Dr. Elena Lazarou<\/strong>, bringing together shipping organizations, Embassies, and distinguished analysts to explore global uncertainty, trade corridors, energy security, and strategic decision-making in shipping. The panel featured: Andreas Giakoumelos, Director, Venergy Maritime; Prof. Athanasios Platias, Strategy Chair, University of Piraeus; Plamen Tonchev, Head of Asia Unit at the Institute of International Economic Relations; Angelo Lazaridis, Chief Commercial Officer, DIAPLOUS Group; Kostis Achladitis, Managing Director, Golden Cargo; H.E. Matthew Lodge, British Ambassador to the Hellenic Republic.
