ELIAMEP and the EU Institute for Security Studies organised a workshop on maritime challenges for the EU on 6 and 7 June 2014. The workshop focused on the maritime security interests of the EU: threats such as piracy, the protection of the EU global supply chain, illegal migration and other illegal activities (transnational organised crime, unauthorised fishing and environmental pollution), terrorism, over-exploitation of energy resources, etc.). European Commissioner for Maritime Affairs & Fisheries Ms Maria Damanaki delivered the welcoming speech.
