The second policy brief in the MEDIADEM policy brief series has been published. Drawing on the project’s research output, the policy brief gives an overview of the main constraints or threats to the operation of free and independent media in the 14 countries under study (Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Greece, Italy, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Turkey and the UK), and makes specific recommendations as to how these concerns might be addressed in practice by the various stakeholders involved. Although the brief focuses on domestic law and policy, it also identifies a number of action points that states may wish to take forward at the European level.
