Yiorgos Korkovelos holds a PhD in economics. He worked for 35 years in Brussels as a senior policy officer in the European Commission serving at various Directorates-General responsible for EU enlargement, Industrial policy, Transport infrastructure and Trans-European Networks, the implementation of the European Green Deal mainly in the shipping sector and the clean energy transition. He served in the Greek public administration, including in the Ministry of Industry during the Greek Presidency of the Council of the EU. He also coordinated in Brussels an informal working group organising thematic discussions to contribute to the ‘promotion of the structural reforms in Greece’. He holds a BSc in Economics from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, a D.E.A. in Central and Eastern European economies, and a D.E.A. in Economics from the University of Paris I, Panthéon-Sorbonne.
