Vasileios P. Karakasis works as a Lecturer and Researcher of European Studies at The Hague University of Applied Sciences. He previously worked as a Lecturer of International and European Governance at the Faculty of Governance and Global Affairs of Leiden University wherein he completed his PhD. In his research, he assessed the impact of natural resources discovery on the escalation of the complication of the Cyprus conflict. He holds a MSc in Public Administration (Track: Crisis and Security Management) from Leiden University, a MA in International Relations (Track: Turkish-Greek Relations) from Bilgi University and a BA in Political Science and Public Administration from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He has published peer-reviewed articles on energy security, foreign policy, conflict analysis and crisis-management.  Αs a postodoctoral fellow in the Programme he deals with questions of energy security and green transition in South-East Europe. Ηis post-doctoral research is focused on the European Energy Strategy in the same region. He speaks Greek (native), English and German (full working proficiency), as well as French, Turkish and Dutch (limited working proficiency).
