Alexandros Kambouroglou is Strategy Advisor at ELIAMEP. He specializes in facilitating cross-sector collaborations and consulting foundations, government and corporate partners. He served as Senior Advisor to the Mayor of Athens between 2014 – 2019 and spearheaded the Mayor’s commitment to public-private collaboration, including leading the city’s partnership with the Stavros Niarchos Foundation and Bloomberg Associates. Alexandros co-founded the Athens Partnership, a nonprofit organization to work between city government and private sector partners, impacting over 1 million residents and visitors, and served as its Executive Director from 2015 – 2019.

Alexandros oversaw more than a dozen major public-private projects in coordination with the Municipality of Athens. 30 municipalities requested to replicate the AP model. AP programs led the City’s bid to the European Commission and award as the 2018 European Innovation Capital, including 1 million euros for public initiatives. Alexandros also created a Digital Council with CEOs from country’s largest tech companies, including Accenture, Cosmote, IBM, Microsoft, Nokia and Oracle and leading IT academics to strengthen the City’s digital opportunities and capabilities. He has been invited to present on his work at various international fora such as Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative, Concordia and others.

Prior to his work with the City of Athens, Alexandros worked as journalist, producer and managing editor for major Greek and U.S. media outlets, which included NBC News and Greek National Television. He also launched and directed production and media companies and directed communications and programming for non-profit educational institutions. He holds a BA from Grinnell College and an MS from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
