Thanos Veremis paints the picture of a fragmented Greek society and the effect of this fracture in our institutions in his article for newspaper “TO VIMA”. He poignantly highlights that the state is not as strong an actor as it once was. “Following the 1974 regime change, the state stopped acting as the modernizing force it was in the time of Trikoupis, Venizelos and Karamanlis,” stressed the Vice-President of ELIAMEP. Veremis explains that the state was indeed sensitized to the rights of the citizen but it was weakened as a pillar of justice.
