Autonomy with the European Union strategically absent from its direct periphery, and particularly the Eastern Mediterranean, is not possible. The EU is absent while fully aware that there is a dangerous security gap in the region and the threat of an explosive episode,” writes Panayiotis Ioakimidis in his article for newspaper Ta Nea.
