Interviewed by Genc Mlloja for the Albanian Daily News, Alexandra Voudouri talked about the economy of Greece and Greek politics in 2021, the outlook for Greek-Turkish relations in 2022, as well as the worrying situation in the Western Balkans.

She noted that while Greece has greatly neglected the Balkans, and other neighbouring countries that view the nation as a key partner, especially over the last two years, Athens continues to monitors Turkey’s active role in the region with concern.

Voudouri also stressed the absence of official meetings between the governments of Greece and Albania in 2021, as well as the lack of progress made in relation to the October 2020 joint agreement to refer their dispute over maritime borders in the Ioanian Sea to the International Court of Justice. In her view, the time has surely come for the two countries to re-focus, too, on other “thorny” bilateral issues.
