An important distinction for the Open European Dialogue programme

The Open European Dialogue has been selected as a Best Practice for Public Sector Innovation by the OECD’s Observatory for Public Sector Innovation.

Open European Dialogue was co-created in 2015 by five leading European foundations and think tanks: the German Marshall Fund of the United States, Stiftung Mercator, the Barcelona Centre for International Affairs, the Istituto Affari Internationali (IAI), and ELIAMEP.

These leading institutions created the Open European Dialogue programme to address the gap in communication and cross-border collaboration among European policymakers.

The Open European Dialogue has broken new ground as a platform for apolitical dialogue. It is aimed at European policymakers, and gives them the opportunity both to discuss viewpoints and issues and to propose cross-border solutions.

In recognition of the Programme’s valuable contributions, the OECD’s Observatory for Public Sector Innovation has selected it as a Best Practice for Public Sector Innovation.

Open European Dialogue’s next goal is to address the major problem posed by the lack of communication and dialogue among European politicians through the establishment of a permanent platform that will allow a network of policymakers to communicate directly, exchange views, propose solutions and reach cross-border agreements in good time. The Programme aims to make the platform self-administered by its members in the near future
