The Cross of the Order of Civil Merit has been awarded to Loukas Tsoukalis by the Ambassador of Spain

The President of ELIAMEP, Professor Loukas Tsoukalis, was awarded one of Spain’s highest honours, the Cross of the Order of Civil Merit (La Cruz de Oficial de la Orden del Mérito Civil). The decoration was given by the Ambassador of Spain in Greece, Mr. Enrique Viguera, in a ceremony held in Athens on Wednesday, 22 September. Yannis Stournaras, Governor of the Bank of Greece; Amb. Themistoklis Demiris, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Nikiforos Diamantouros, former European Ombudsman; and former Mayor of Athens, Mr. Georgios Kaminis were among the guests. 

Professor Tsoukalis has also received in the past the decoration of Commander of the Order of the Phoenix by the President of the Hellenic Republic, as well as the Légion d’honneur by the President of the French Republic for his contribution to European integration.
