Across the globe, women are disproportionately affected by the socio-economic implications of the covid-19 pandemic. Since women earn less and are predominant in precarious work, they were less protected in the face of a new recession. The existing social inequalities and breaches of their rights worsen the situation. Can this challenge strengthen the position of women? Dia Anagnostou, Natalia–Rozalia Avlona, Maria Stratigaki and Dimitra Kogidou write a poignant analysis on the rights of women and the covid-19 pandemic.
