“The marginal win of Zoran Zaev’s center-left party SDSM in North Macedonia is a success for the former Prime Minister and the choice the center-left has made to be pro-European and promote cooperation with its neighbors, Greece and Bulgaria,” said Ioannis Armakolas in his interview with Polideukis Papadopoulos and the First Programme of ERT, the state-owned public radio and television network.
They also discussed the general political and economic situation in the Western Balkans in the aftermath of the coronavirus pandemic. The recently damaged European prospects of the region, its weakening democratic institutions, the serious financial difficulties, all help to explain the recent events in Serbia and elsewhere, noted Armakolas.
