On occasion of the celebration of its 30th anniversary, the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP), in collaboration with the Sinthesis Dialoque Society, organises a public discussion entitled “Is Greece a blocked country?“. The event will be held on Friday, 7 September 2018 at 6:30 p.m. at the Forum Center (9 Deligiorgi Street, Volos) with the kind support of Raycap. The discussants are Prof. Nikos Marantzidis, Professor at the University of Macedonia, Prof. Loukas Tsoukalis, President of ELIAMEP and Sciences Po, Paris, and Prof. Aristidеs Hatzis, Professor at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Moderator of the discussion will be Dr. Christos Triantopoulos, Research Fellow at the Centre of Planning and Economic Research (KEPE) & President of the Sinthesis Dialoque Society.
Greece, after nearly a decade spent in economic crisis and recession, and, completing an eight-year period within financial aid programs, seems to have failed to respond convincingly to important critical issues. Issues that, among other things, relate to the reasons that the country has been in this difficult position and have made this situation persistent and prolonged, as well as the factors that delay reforms and keep the country from entering a path of sustainable growth and prosperity for all its citizens. The main question concerns the structural factors that seem to “block” the country and prevent it from leaving the crisis and start to develop, and (why not) overtake its European partners. Therefore, the question, whether “Greece is a blocked country?”, will be answered by the discussants at the event organized by the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP), in collaboration with the Sinthesis Dialoque Society, in Volos.
