Writing in Avgi about the April 25 elections in Albania, Ioannis Armakolas discusses the challenges of the ‘next day’ both for the Albanian political system and for Greece’s policy towards its neighbour.

He stresses that “Greece should work with Albania systematically and collaboratively from now on to facilitate its EU accession process. Opinion polls show that Greece enjoys a high approval rating in Albania which Athens could capitalize on to consolidate a collaborative pro-Greece climate in the country”. He goes on to note that Greece “should adopt a visionary policy which looks beyond Greek public opinion and its increasingly intense competition with Turkey and aims to consolidate the positive impact of the EU on the wider region”.
