“The agreement demarcating the maritime boundaries between Greece and Italy is one of the few examples of rational Greek foreign policy that happens to also be supported by the political opposition. The history of Greek foreign policy has shown that consent from across the political spectrum is difficult to gain and easy to lose. This is why it is the responsibility of all dominant political powers, not only to safeguard the hard-earned, fragile political consent, but also to strengthen it,” writes Panayotis Tsakonas in an article for the newspaper “TA NEA”.
