This year marks the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Lausanne and ELIAMEP is organising an International Conference on 12 and 13 June to see how relevant the Treaty is, why it is of particular importance and a model for the peace process a century later.
In this context ELIAMEP is launching a new podcast series with people who have deep knowledge of the Treaty. In this first podcast of a new series to mark the centenary of the Treaty of Lausanne, Evanthis Hatzivassiliou, Professor of Post-War History at the University of Athens and Secretary General of the Hellenic Parliament Foundation for Parliamentarism and Democracy, talks to Odin Linardatou about the terms of the Treaty, those concerned, why it is still important, the problems it solved, the borders it drew, and the historical and international political context within which it was signed.
