Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ visit to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates confirms the improvement of Greece’s relations with the two Arab countries, writes ELIAMEP Research Fellow George N. Tzogopoulos in his article for the newspaper TA NEA. Tzogopoulos urges caution when it comes to Athens’ next step, because next to the opening of new investment opportunities, trade cooperation and an influx of tourists, Greece is also taking on the risk of directly involving itself in the conflict of Sunni countries with Iran by dispatching Hellenic Air Force Patriot anti-aircraft missiles to Riyadh. Tzogopoulos predicts that Greece might make hasty decisions in the face of the Turkish danger factor, risky decisions in fronts our country is unfamiliar with and where important actors with completely different interests than ours are active.
