Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis visit to the Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates confirms the improvement of Greece’s relations with the two Arab countries, writes ELIAMEP researcher Dr George N. Tzogopoulos in an article in the newspaper TA NEA. Dr.Tzogopoulos explains though, that Athens should be particularly careful in its next moves, since some opportunities for investment, trade cooperation and arrivals of more tourists may theoretically arise, but Greece is taking the risk of being directly involved in the Sunni conflict with Iran by the dispatching of Patriots to Riyadh. George Tzogopoulos points out that Greece is likely to make hasty decisions to deal with the Turkish danger factor, decisions that involve many risks on fronts our country is not familiar with, where superpowers with completely different interests than ours, are being involved.
